I'm going to edit this mess so other people don't need to burn their minds reading it.. wish me luck!
Okay, so I was flying around and I saw a Raven. I'm pretty sure I can take him in a fight, even though the odds are stacked against me (Sentries and his t2 fitted Raven against me). I follow him into the next system, and am delighted to see when he uncloaks that I am within warp scrambler range! I lock onto his ship and fire, instantly melting his shields (insert appropriate "BAM!" sound here). I assume this is because he didn't have time to or forgot to turn on his shield hardeners. I open a conversation with ym target when his ship gets into the lower end of his structure hp, and ask him for 40 million ISK or I will continue to destroy his ship. He replies positively, saying that he will pay.
I deactivate my weapons, yet he continues to fire on me. I pass this off as an amateur mistake, and wait for the ransom. 5 seconds pass by and still no ISK has appeared in my wallet. I understand that it can take a while to get something done when you're nervous - but I can't hang around all day as the sentry guns are still shooting me. 5 seconds can seem like forever!
My target now jams me, breaking my target lock, and 2 more Ravens warp in. I ask my friend "Operated" (who is in the next system and on his way to help me) to hurry up. Operated jumps in and at that moment the jam fails. I am once again able to lock the Raven and before he has time to warp out my friend unleashes a volley of artillery fire while I pound him with my weapons. The ship explodes and Operated gets the final blow and kill mail! The other 2 Ravens seemingly had no association with the now shipless target and leave the scene. Operated and myself collect the loot from the ship and warp away to a safe spot.
The guy we have just killed now states in local that we blew his ship after he had paid our ransom! I reply - letting everyone know (and reminding the individual) that he jammed me and attempted to destroy my ship after he had paid, so I finished him off when his jammers failed a cycle. I instruct the guy to go to my forums and then I will send him 30 million back of the 40, as he messed up. Surely everyone who has common sense knows that you don't try to double-cross someone who is ransoming you?!
He goes to my forums and (despite my specific instructions sent to him by eve-mail) does not list any important details about the incident and attempts to state that he was honourable. He returns to EVE and tells me that he has done as I asked. I check this and find everything is not as it should have been, or as I asked. I instruct the guy to read the eve-mail I sent, and allow him a minute to correct his forum post. Amusingly I also ask him to apologise for using 2 Warp Core Stabilisers! I tell him I will send him 10 million ISK now, and the other 20 when he has completed the forum post corrections. He responds to this rather abusively and refuses to correct his post on my forums.
To this I simply respond: "Ok, screw you! Thanks for your T2 Raven loot". Operated and myself then leave the system.
